For more than twenty-five years Charlottesville Friends have supported and worked with Virginians For Alternatives to the Death Penalty, publicly protesting executions in Virginia,  raising consciousness in the community, and writing the Governor to petition for cleme ncy.   When these efforts fail, Friends sit in silent vigil at the Meeting House during the hour of an execution.   These vigils are announced in the local paper and the community is invited to join us.
